New to vaping? Feeling overwhelmed by all the things you have to worry about? Worry no more, my friends! VapeWild wants to make vaping easy and give you the six biggest things you should expect when you start vaping! We hope to make your starting line easier to find so you can vape easy. Let’s dive in together!
The Initial Cost: $40-$60
You may know already from your vaping pals that vaping is “so much cheaper” than originally thought. It’s true, depending on what vape kit you choose. When I got started I expected to spend about $100 or more to get this cool vape thing. I walked away with a mountain of vape juice and a setup without spending more than $60. Yes, only $60! I bought in a store because I wanted to make sure that what I was spending my hard earned money was what I wanted. Come to find out, if I was willing to wait a little longer and talk to someone online, I could have saved so much more. For you, you may want something small. You might be bold (like I was) and want to go all in with a huge mod! Wherever your mind is with your transition to vaping, VapeWild sees an average cost of about $40 for a setup and juice. We do suggest that you start with a smaller, easy vape kit. It is certainly a lot easier on you and your wallet.

The Vape Lingo
Earlier I called your new vape kit a “setup” which makes it a lot easier to identify. What the term really is, however, is Mod, or Vape Mod, or you may feel better with Vape Kit. Setup is good, too! Especially if you are a new vaper, no worries! You may have heard other terms, so here is a quick list to help you learn what your vaping buddy is saying.
18650, 20700, 21700, 26650 (Batteries)
Numbers like those reference different kinds of batteries. Different vape mods take different battery sizes.18650 batteries are the most common.
Wattage or Watts
Watts or wattage and is a number representing power. The higher the watt number, the more powerful. When it comes to wattage, your coils almost always have a “best between” wattage range. The low end of this range is a good start!
Mods are the devices that hold batteries. This is a modification to the original E-Cigarette design, like a Cig-alike, that is now popularly known as a vape Mod. When you hear someone talking about their “mod” they are talking about their device!
Atomizers, Tanks, & Coils
An atomizer describes the piece of hardware that holds the e-liquid, heats the e-liquid and creates the vape clouds you see coming out of a vaper’s face! Tanks hold your vape juice, coils heat the vape juice, if you ask a vaper what atomizer they are using you will hear about one of these two.
OHMs or Resistance
Ohms are the measurement of your coil's resistance. You will be asked things like “what ohm is your coil?” Examples would be 0.4, 1.6, 0.15 ohms depending on your coil. The ohms will typically dictate where the recommended wattage is.
ADV (All Day Vape)
Your ADV is your All Day Vape! When you hear a vaper say “Oh, man that is my ADV!” They are talking about their favorite flavor! My ADV is Underboss, my goodness it’s so good!
Finding your ADV
Really, this completely depends on you! If you like strawberries, then ask about strawberry flavors! There are a lot of different strawberries based vapes out there like (S+C)2! Finding the e-liquid that tickles your fancy is a lot easier than you may think though! Here at VapeWild, we offer sample packs like the Welcome Sample Pack that gives you four (4) 30ml bottles to give a try! VapeWild has several different sample packs that are super popular, and we would love to help you pick one that will lead you to your ADV!
We do suggest that you start with sample packs so that you have all sorts of options. This is how most of us found which flavors we love and vape regularly. Like Hannibal Nectar (Bestselling Sample Pack), Underboss (Sample Four Pack), and Stoned Age (Cereal Sample Pack).
Now you have your budget, your setup, and your vape juice! The next bit of information that you should expect while you start vaping is that you will be thirsty a lot. So make sure to bring a bottle of water with you, and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. When atomizing (heating, or producing vapor) it is natural to feel like you need something to drink. We know you love soda and coffee, we do too! We suggest, however, that you drink at minimum four or five glasses/bottles/mugs of water every day. Your transition will be a lot easier when you start vaping!
I’m going to speak from experience for a moment. When I started vaping three years ago, I noticed that my friends that were smoking cigarettes invited me to hang with them. Not a big surprise, we did that together all the time. What I noticed about it is that my sense of smell was a lot stronger, like a lot stronger. It didn’t happen overnight, but it happened, and that is what surprised me! I started to go outside with them less and less, over the course of six months, and they consistently asked me questions about my vaping lifestyle. I was all to eager to help them out because I wanted to keep hanging out with them, but I wasn’t willing to smell the tobacco smoke every time. It worked out for most of them, and the others that are still smoking are still close friends!
I noticed within a few weeks that I could taste food differently, too! I used to lather my salads in dressing, my steak in seasoning and horseradish (I feel you judging me…), and a mound of sugar in my coffee! When my taste changed, I noticed that I didn’t need dressing with a side of salad anymore. The horseradish was stronger than I remembered (still use it though, so there), and my coffee didn’t need as much sugar anymore! Water is even more satisfying, too. It doesn’t taste like anything, but it’s just better!
Dealing with People
Ok, so a lot of you might be introverts and have a trusted inner circle, others are extroverts out there that run around all nimbly and love to chat it up! In the vaping community, like any other, intro-extra-verts exist. You can expect to be asked questions about your vape, asked by “Randy” (random person = Randy) if they can take a hit, and smokers will notice you and will ask you “does that thing work?”. Some of you may love to share with them, all the knowledge and experience you have, all the fun and benefits of vaping, and just be filled with all the happiness while you do! Some of you might retreat and answer with short and brief answers. It’s all good, friends! The point is that you know you will be approached, and you can be prepared for any situation by relying on your experience and genuine desire to help your neighbor!
There you have it!
These are about the biggest things to expect when you start vaping! First, knowing what you are willing to spend when you start vaping. Then knowing the terms so you know what to look for. Then finding your favorite flavor! Having an understanding of the kinds of changes that you will notice. Finally, the community that will grow around you! Vaping is a lot of fun, and in our experience, it’s affordable, easy to learn, fun to explore, and so so much more!
Happy vaping, VapeWild Army! Stay Wild!
