In this industry, there are several brands of vape juice that we are familiar with. Swizzle Stix is not your everyday premium brand of e-juice, however. They are an industry staple that is establishing itself with customers across the country, and the world!
We sat with owner Patrick for a Q&A. Enjoy!
What got you started vaping?
I needed to quit smoking cigarettes. My oldest son told me I smelled like the ashtray outside one morning… Not how I want my kids to remember me.
What motivated you to start your own juice line?
After finally being able to quit I realized E-liquids are the future. In my eyes cigarettes will be obsolete in 10 - 15 years. I wanted to be a part of that.
Where did you grow up, and what was life like prior to being in the vaping industry?
I was born in Cali, but I grew up in Texas. Southeast Houston in the burbs specifically. As far as life before vaping… I didn’t start Swizzle Stix until I was about 30, so, I mean a lot went down pre-vaping-industry!
Swizzle Stix is a fun name. What inspired you?
It’s not easy to say Swizzle Stix without smiling is it?! That story is hard to tell, really. It’s one of those things where you just had to be there unfortunately. I’ve tried to retell the story before and it just doesn’t quite do it justice. Essentially it involved the Houston Ren Fest, a bonfire, an RV and all of my brothers goofing off for the weekend. Hilariousness ensued.
What do you think sets the brand apart from others on the market?
That’s a hard one! There are SO MANY brands on the market right now! What’s unique about us? For starters, we don’t use any sweeteners #coillivesmatter. Sweeteners are totally unnecessary in my eyes. They’re good for wasting your money on coils and giving you vape tongue. Boo. Second, I’ve learned that many juice labels formulate their recipes with the bottom line in mind, meaning they might skimp on flavor to increase profits. When I started mixing Swizzle Stix the only thing I was thinking about was making the most delicious juice on the planet with the best, cleanest ingredients available. To me, flavor is everything, and the best flavors always come from quality ingredients whether you mixing e-liquids or baking a pie. Lastly, I think our packaging is the dope-ist, that can be a word right? I don’t know of any other brands that have licensed, legitimate, world class street-writers/graffiti-artist’s work on their labels. I think street art and e-liquid are similar in a way. They’ve both gone from an obscure, kind of frowned upon behind the scenes thing for rebels and outcasts to being recognized by the whole world for their awesomeness. Basically I just created a brand made up of things that I love. If it stands out, cool. If not, that’s cool too. If one person loves Swizzle Stix, I’m humbled and grateful by that more than I could ever put into words, and that’s enough for me.
Describe your relationship with VapeWild in 10 words or less.
Why did you all make me want a pet flamingo?
Okay, now you have to elaborate
I just love Fred
What’s your favorite memory of working with VapeWild?
Definitely doing the World Vape Expo in Miami with my wife and Tom! Absolutely.
The show in Bremerton is a strong second…
Do you have any exciting stories from trade shows or vape events?
Actually, I’ve only had the opportunity to do 2 trade shows! Miami was an absolute blast. We spent a lot of time at Mango’s (go there). We rented some bikes and rode a few miles up the beach back to the hotel one night instead of taking an Uber. Lauren sang like no one was around (there were lots of people around) and I laughed at all the people she made smile as we rode by. Good times for sure.
You’ve seen a lot of personal growth in addition to professional growth. Do you have any advice or encouragement you’d like to share?
I haven’t really delved into my checkered past in this interview, but I’m extremely grateful and fortunate to be where I’m at today. I have my health, a beautiful family who loves me and a future. I struggled deeply with drugs form a pretty young age. I was kicked out of a bunch of schools, I was homeless a couple times, I’ve spent time in jail, but I never gave up on myself. I got close! But I always believed God had a plan for me. I have seen a ton of personal growth over the past 10 years. My only advice would be to do what you know is right, one decision at a time and watch how quickly your life can change for the better.
What do you think the future holds for the industry?
I think the industry is still very very young. I think we’re seeing some of the growing pains that come with any burgeoning industry. All the the uncertainty with regulations, the positive and negative news stories, it reminds me of what’s going on in the crypto world. Externally the industry is catching a lot of flack but behind the scenes industry giants are working on getting in early. I think as we dredge through these regulatory obstacles the industry will mature and strengthen and society will be better off for it! It’s important that we, the vaping community, continue to be knowledgeable, vocal, and proactive when it comes to regulation. We’re revolutionizing a deadly industry for the better. Let’s keep it up!
What is your favorite kind of noodles?
Angel hair… and fun-noodles
If you could have one e-liquid flavor perfectly replicate any taste, what would that flavor be?
Dr. Pepper Icee
Is there anything else you would like to share with your fans and the VapeWild Army?
I just want Swizzle Stix fans to know that we are so so so humbled and grateful for you. Thank you! And to the Vape Wild Army? Ya’ll crazy… and I love it! Keep that $h!* up.
Marvel or DC?
I'm a Spawn guy, dark horse comics... But if I must choose between the 2, Marvel has overtaken my childhood favorite which was totally DC.
What's your favorite Swizzle Stix flavor?
What is one thing that customers don't know about that goes on behind the scenes?
We wake up every morning to a pound of bacon crisping and popping on the griddle, puppy breath and kisses from a minimum of 10 puppies of all varieties and ice cold mimosas and freshly brewed black rifle coffee on tap before brushing our teeth because orange juice taste weird after toothpaste. Once our bellies and our souls have been engorged with meat and/or alcohol and coffee we bathe in a waterfall, brush our teeth, floss of course and get dressed in our Hawaiian shirts and board shorts or similar attire (snuggees aren't uncommon). We then don our gaudy eighties shades and mount our hover boards. A leisurely ride through the park brings us to the juice factory. Magic happens, Swizzle Stix is created and delivered to the masses. Then we spend the afternoon reading books to our friends at the children's hospital or visiting the local nursing home. When they're sick of us we go home, play beer pong and jam Tenacious D until dawn. Rinse and repeat.
If you had a theme song, what would it be?
This list has been shortened to save time. It's about to be my shot at the pong table.

The puppies were an unexpected but wonderful treat! Who doesn’t love puppy kisses?! Swizzle Stix owner, Patrick, was generous enough to answer some burning questions. For him and all of us at VapeWild, we hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes look at Sizzle Stix! Stay WILD!
