Today we’re going to answer the age-old question, what is the answer to life, the universe and everything. Wait, that's 42. No, we're going to answer THE OTHER age-old question: To steep or not to steep and why you should do it.
We’ve gathered information from our experts and our awesome customers about how they steep their VapeWild ejuice, and what their reasoning is behind it. All in a bid to help make the sometimes mysterious process of steeping far less mysterious.
So, what exactly is steeping?
Steeping is the process of allowing the ingredients in a bottle of ejuice to “marry”. The process allows the flavors to meld together but also gives the nicotine time to interact with the other components. creating a more enjoyable experience for the vaper. This is why it is suggested to steep your juice if you’re experiencing harshness or if the flavor doesn’t quite match the profile that you were looking for. A good old-fashioned steep might just do the trick!
How do I steep my ejuice?
As for how to steep, the methods are vast. Some vapers swear by heat, and suggest leaving it in the warm car out of the sun, or even on top of your router for the extra boost of warmth. Just a day or two of this and you’ll be all set, BUT it should be noted that heat causes nicotine to break down rather quickly and can lead to harshness.
VapeWild’s R&D expert Damon’s preferred method for steeping is fairly simple, but does take a bit longer and requires a little weekly maintenance. Just leave your e-juice in a cool, dark place to for about 30 to 60 days AND remove the nip and cap once a week for about 20 minutes, this gives a chance for the alcohol to evaporate and necessary oxygen exchange. After you replace the nip and cap, give it a nice, vigorous shake and return it to its home.
Keeping it in a cool, dark area will help prevent the risk of nicotine breaking down due to heat and light, but also serves as a way to make it easier to resist the temptation to skip the steeping. Out of sight, out of mind!
Do I really need to steep my ejuice?
It all comes down to personal preference, and some say the type of juice. While a lot of the fruity flavors are good right off the bat, needing just day or two of steeping. Custard and bakery flavors seem to benefit from the full steeping process according to some of our customers. No one person has the exact same flavor pallet, so this is why we suggest trying a bit when it first arrives, and then setting it aside to steep. This process will let you find the flavors that are great fresh out of the mail, and which ones need a bit more time to reach their full potential.
What is the difference pre-steeped and juice that is self-steeped?
We get this question a lot, but the good news is that the answer is straight forward. Our pre-steeped line comes in a set 65/35 ratio for VG/PG, and is steeped in a special, super top secret process. Other brands like Cosmic Fog are also steeped by the manufacturer in their own proprietary way. This is the main factor that separates our pre-steeped flavors from our regular line of e-juice, which is made to order. VapeWild's pre-steeped flavors are ready to go right out of the mail, allowing you to vape without the need to wait.
Our regular e-juice line gives our customers the chance to order their preferred VG/PG ratio, along with deciding from themselves the amount of time they want it to steep their order. While we totally understand that it’s hard to resist that flavor that you’ve been dying to try, we stand by the statement that it gets better with age!
We've tried to cover all the bases when it comes to steeping, and we hope this clears up some of the mystery behind it.
